Leilani O’Neill has been the Academic Manager for surgery residents, research and the clerkship since 2009 and works to help foster a culture of work life balance during a resident’s demanding training towards becoming a surgeon. She holds a national certification in training for administrators in Graduate Medical Education and has degrees in applied health sciences and criminal justice administration. She has previously worked for the general counsel in Los Angeles and vice-chancellors at both Pepperdine University and the University of California, Riverside. Her passion outside of the office are her fur-faced kids, Lila, Luna and Liam (IG @LLLDoxies). In addition to her social media, the decor in her office reflects her love for the fierce and loyal dachshund breed and is a small part of why her job as a surgery manager fits her personality so well. Additionally, she is an avid reader of dystopian fiction, loves to go fishing, camping and spending time in the mountains.
